Now you can format and read flash of Micromax X501, which has SPD SC6531 CPU using Volcano Tool, the below is the process to format the phone using Volcano Utility. 

While flashing SPD SC6531 Chip set, use latest version of Volcano Tool/Utility and Do back up the phone firmware/flash file, then select the flash file when format the phone.

• Go to SPD tab
• Select Format
• Select built in boot 15
• Choose the X501 Flash File
• Tick Auto Detect Pinouts
• Click on Start
